Dear Community Development Board,

The AS&CC Board would like to thank you for your generous support of our research trip to Dallas. As it turned out, two of us were able to go, and we visited four shelters in the Dallas area, two of which were designed by the architectural firm we are interested in.

The trip was a huge success, and because of it we feel more confident about ordering blue prints and proceeding with designing our structure.

We spoke in person with the people who worked with the architects, and in each instance the person said they would absolutely use Houndquarters again, and that they couldn’t recommend them highly enough.

We also picked up some great fundraising tips, good ideas for managing space effectively, and saw some leading edge equipment that we didn’t know existed. We also were able to see a shelter that really efficiently managed large animals in a cost-effective manner, in a small space. That was the first shelter we had seen that we were interested in using as a model for handling large animals.

Overall, the trip was really successful and really important in our planning process. Our outcome will be better because of it, and we never would have been able to go if we hadn’t had the support of the Whitehall Community Development Board.
